Reflections on the Launch of Matnsaz

Matnsaz released on the iOS App Store on Nov 15, 2022. The response to Matnsaz has been very encouraging, and we are proud to improve access to Urdu technology. Coverage on the release of Matnsaz graced the pages of the Express Tribune, the Nation, the Daily Pakistan & the Daily Khabrain.

Comments we have received since launch provide affirmation that our new keyboard layout is simple and unintimidating. This opens the door to Urdu computing and writing to many Urdu speakers who were previously held back by the difficulty of typing Urdu. For those well versed in typing Urdu, our technology provides new tools for better productivity and improved writing.

Since launch, we’ve made improvements to our language model, improved support for Display Zoom, and resolved issues on some specific devices. As a result, Matnsaz is even higher quality than at release. With our work, we aim to illustrate that Urdu computing does not need to be limited to poorly designed, incomplete software stuck in the past. Rather, we hope this product sustains as a lasting tribute to a great linguistic tradition.

Our focus on improving Matnsaz further, and bringing it to more people continues. I look forward to engaging further with the Matnsaz community.
